My Personal Design Philosophy

My personal design philosophy is that design consists of two essential things: nature and life. Everything in life is design; from the way that you style your hair to the way leaves change its color with every season. Design is around us everyday and some of us fail to realize how important it is in our lives.  Being from a small country neighborhood, I experience the beauty of nature on a daily basis and how it truly portrays design and art. Nature is a big part of my life so I definitely wanted that to be a big part of my design philosophy. In addition, being interested in interior design helps me to see that everyday objects in life that creates the decor in a house is truly design as well. Like I mentioned before, art and design in life can also be seen as picking what to wear everyday and styling your hair. For my design philosophy, I chose to incorporate these very two essential aspects.
In my collage, I incorporated some objects from nature, while also adding some everyday objects in order to show my philosophy. I also added an eco-friendly image in order to show the importance of nature and how it relates to design. Being from a small neighborhood in the country, I have always appreciated nature and saw how design and art plays an essential aspect in wildlife and in everyday life. The lines on a leaf, the ripples in the ocean, the way the sun and clouds look during a sunset are all some things in nature that have their own aesthetic design that many overlook. In my collage, I decided that I wanted my pictures to have some negative space in between in order to show the brown, earthy color of the chipboard. I tried to distinguish an even mixture of the negative space throughout the collage. I also thought about the placement of my pictures. The eco-friendly picture is the largest and most dissimilar image that I have so I decided I wanted that one slightly in the center. I didn't want it directly in the middle because not one picture is the main or focal point of my collage. I  also scattered the black and white images evenly along the picture plane so they would be in relation with the color pictures.  The everyday objects that I chose were pieces of furniture and a shell. The shell has very creative and curvy lines on it that depicted design to me and the furniture all have a look that relates back to nature and design. To sum up my design philosophy....
